The designer and interior architect Léna Micheli is working on an up-cycling project at Serge Ferrari. She studies in detail the "resource-waste-resource" cycle of materials in order to create a new product from the waste and scraps generated by the production process. One of the current research tracks is the thermoforming of Batyline threads from the end of the reels and from the recutting of the fabrics before thermofixing. This loose thread represents several tons of waste per year for the Serge Ferrari production site. The company Le Pavé® which creates recycled and recyclable plates composed of shredded plastic waste, is currently working on a future prototyping, and cost calculations of this material also transformed into plates. Eventually, these tiles could be used for flooring, wall covering or furniture.â
Stay tuned to know the other tracks on which Léna Micheli is working!â
