The Enduring House Architectural Project, located in Brunswick West, is a large double-fronted Edwardian house that underwent significant upgrades with a strong emphasis on sustainability and energy efficiency. The project aimed to preserve the historical significance and timeless charm of the house while incorporating modern elements for enhanced living spaces and eco-friendly features. The house was designed and executed by a collaboration of reputable firms, including Green Solar Designs, Brave New Eco, and Pledge Custom Builders. One crucial aspect of the project was to recognise and honour the original passive ventilation and climate control systems integrated into older houses like the Edwardian-era home. These houses relied on architectural elements that allowed natural airflow, light, and temperature regulation, as air conditioning had not been invented yet. The team acknowledged the importance of these passive climate control features and their relevance in today’s environmentally conscious world.

Fanco understands the historical importance of passive climate control principles and aims to preserve and promote these time-tested methods through their modern products like the Fanco Wynd. The Wynd seamlessly blends history with contemporary aesthetics, and it features real timber blades, which not only pay homage to the timeless charm of the Edwardian era but also ensure a connection to nature and the surrounding environment.
The fan’s design ensures that it complements the overall renovation and modern stylings of the Enduring House, creating a harmonious balance between tradition and innovation. The Wynd demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency felt by all parties within the project. The fans help in promoting natural ventilation, reducing the reliance on air conditioning, and conserving energy and embodies the project’s successfully achieved goal of improving energy capture and sustainability, whilst maintaining the historical significance and charm of the Edwardian house.
