The Rijksmuseum is a Dutch national museum dedicated to arts and history in Amsterdam. The museum is located at the Museum Square, close to the Van Gogh Museum, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the Concertgebouw. The Rijksmuseum needed a way to handle natural light and view through, both for preserving the works of art and to care for the comfort of the visitors.
The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam is one of the 16 national museums in the Netherlands. The collection provides an overview of Dutch art and history, including works by 17th century Dutch masters such as Rembrandt, Vermeer and Hals. The museum has been located in the Rijksmuseum building since 1885, designed by Dutch architect P.J.H. Cuypers.
On March 18th 2003, the main building closed for renovation that took ten years. The newly renovated main building was reopened on April 13, 2013.
Due to the large, characteristic windows, a lot of UV-light enters the building. This could damage the art objects and needed to be controlled.
In most areas of the building, roller blinds have been fitted using 802 SilverScreen Enviro. With the SilverScreen Enviro fabric, the museum has found natural daylight to the impressive halls.
