Elevators
A vertical lift, or elevator, carries people or goods between floors or levels of a building via cables, hydraulic cylinders and roller tracks. Although some pumps use hydraulic fluid to elevate a cylindrical piston like a jack, elevators are often powered by electric motors that drive traction cables and counterweight systems like a hoist.
Passenger Elevators: Any elevator designed to carry people through a building is a passenger elevator. The size, speed and interior features of these elevators might vary greatly depending on the elevator's intended usage.
High-Speed Elevators: When it comes to operation, high-speed elevators frequently resemble conventional lifts. The EN 81-20 standard states that a lift qualifies as a high-speed lift if it is faster than the 4m/s speed restriction, requiring additional compensation ropes.

Lifts
