Peach Garden Condominium was built in the early 1970s at the height of Singapore’s fascination with modernism.
We were asked to refurbish an apartment unit to suit the needs of a family of four, a grandmother, and a helper. The unit had gone through several owners who made alterations to the apartment. With each intervention, a part of the original design was lost, including the common spaces that enjoyed cross-ventilation with windows on 3 sides. The client wanted a space that was bright and well-ventilated with ample storage space.
Our approach sought simplicity and took inspiration from the apartment’s original layout comprising a main free-flowing space that unified the entire apartment and brought in streams of natural light and sea breezes. A neutral color palette was adopted to complement the existing marble floor that was restored. The walls and cabinetry were predominantly finished in white to set off the client’s personal art collection and vintage furniture.
