A curated commercial IP that integrates retail, flash mob, event, performance, social and exhibition is the biggest dark horse of commercial real estate this year. On Xiaohongshu, China's most popular social media platform, COSMO has become a hit, with more than 70,000 notes, and "COSMO" has become one of the most popular travel words in Chengdu, along with "teahouse" and "Sanxingdui". COSMO" has become a hot word for travel in Chengdu, along with "teahouse" and "Sanxingdui".

A press conference was held on 5 May, to announce theme and curatorial team of the “Transformative Hong Kong” Exhibition at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.

The Collateral event of 18th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia - Hong Kong Exhibition with the theme “Transformative Hong Kong” (港創未來) held its official opening on 19th May 2023 in Venice, Italy. The opening ceremony was attended by Member of Legislative Council and government officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, as well as professionals, media and architects from across the world.

The Bucheon Arts Center in South Korea has formally opened to the public. The complex features a 1,450 seat symphonic concert hall, a 300 seat arts theatre and a large orchestral rehearsal space, and will be the home for the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra. The design is a collaboration between Arup and the Architectural firms of Haenglim and DMP.

The Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA), Sponsorship for International Design Awards 2021/22 (SIDA) under the sponsorship of Create Hong Kong, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, can provide financial aid to encourage Hong Kong designers and local design-applying enterprises to participate in the representative international competitions or awards in order to increase the publicity of Hong Kong design through the SIDA sponsorship scheme. The reimbursement is serving as a reward to the good work, and as an honour and recognition from Create Hong Kong by providing financial reimbursement to Hong Kong designers and local design-applying enterprises who “won the specified international competitions/awards”. The financial aid is based on a list of 35 specified international competitions/awards with 7 design categories (Multi, Graphics, Spatial, Product, Fashion, Digital Media and Design Education). All awards are endorsed by 13 local professional design associations and institutions and design celebrities.

The highest subsidy amount of each design unit is up to HK$200,000 to subsidize their entry fee, courier fee, publication fee (winners’ package), exhibition fee, flight and accommodation fees.

In order to further promote Hong Kong design, the Association has held the "Biennial Exhibition" at K11 Art Mall to display the award-winning works of various international design awards won by Hong Kong designers. The purpose is to encourage more designers to devote themselves to creation to enhance public awareness of design and Hong Kong's design status among. Those excellent works which attracted many visitors.

HKDA SIDA also successfully held two Winners' Sharing Hybrid Seminars in May 2023. HKDA invited Hong Kong designers who have won international design awards to share “How to introduce my design to the public and market?”, “How to be the most outstanding design in the market?” and “How to promote my brand internationally?”

For the practice’s first major project in South East Asia, Kokaistudios undertook an interior and exterior redesign and renovation of The Starhill shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, right in the heart of KL’s famous shopping belt Bukit Bintang. By injecting welcomed daylight into the interior space and further diversifying its functional mix, the iconic mall has been rejuvenated and opened-up for a new chapter.
