Qin Pang, Director and Head of Shanghai Studio, said:
“The original design intention of the Alibaba Central China Headquarters and Industrial Complex is to try to soften and improve the simple juxtaposition between the traditional office tower and the retail podium. Through the floating Ali Hub volume and the placement of the suspended folding staircase, it provides a transitional area in function, space and users’ consciousness. It wasn’t designed to win an award, but it’s nice to see that MIPIM took notice of our project. This MIPIM Asia Gold Award is a great recognition of our work. Thank you very much!”
Terence Seah, Director and Head of Hong Kong, Singapore and Shenzhen, commented:
“It is an immense honor to be recognized with four awards across APAC for various design disciplines. Alibaba Central Headquarters, David Jones Flagship Store, Seazen Suzhou Wuyue Plaza and Sanya CDF Mall II — these are all exemplary examples of our design response to heritage preservation, evolving local and workplace culture and promoting leisure and tourism. Through projects which encompass social, environmental and commercial sustainability, we demonstrate the continuing evolution of the built environment into urban spaces which are sustainable, inclusive and resilient.”
The MIPIM Asia Awards Jury, comprised of acclaimed industry experts and senior executives, shortlisted 33 winners in 11 categories from over 120 entries, representing the most outstanding projects of the real estate industry in Asia-Pacific.
Congratulations to the winners and to the project teams for their outstanding project designs!
