Gammon Construction Limited (“Gammon”) is pleased to announce it has been awarded a HK$1.3 billion (US$170 million) contract by Top Oasis Limited, a consortium formed by Sino Land Company Limited and CSI Properties Limited to construct the Yau Tong Ko Chiu Road residential development.
The scope includes construction of a 33-storey residential tower plus podium, providing 792 new flats.
To address the major challenge of constructing the new residential block above an existing MTR Metro facilities, Gammon has developed a solution that utilises the principals of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA). Individual steel components will be fabricated in its steel factory before being delivered to site for assembly into a mega truss that will straddle the ventilation building, providing both temporary support for construction and safety for the operating railway infrastructure.
To support the project’s objective of achieving BEAM Plus Gold, Gammon will also deploy initiatives such as the Enertainer, a mass battery storage system that can provide power in lieu of diesel generators to reduce carbon emissions, and all demolition waste will be fully recycled.
Mr Kevin O’Brien, Chief Executive of Gammon Construction, said, “We are delighted that Sino Land and CSI Properties have selected Gammon to be their project partner. We look forward to sharing our expertise and experience to implement customer-focused solutions that will allow the works to continue to the highest standards of safety, while also bringing our modern and sustainable method of construction.”
Work commenced in August 2022 and completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2025. About 500 workers will be employed on the project during the peak period.
