Crush Barriers are used to protect the public from traffic accidents and to act as a deterrent to stop terrorist attacks.
It is interesting to note that the sales for crush barriers for a company in China has increased to 10 folds since a car ploughed into the exercise track at the sports center in Zhuhai killing 35 people. There is also the most recent incident in Germany where a car ramped into the crowd at a Christmas fair, killing and injuring quite a number of people.
Barriers can be in the form of a simple bollard to massive objects to create a traffic barrier. It should be noted that in some public spaces barriers are required to be certified for strength (Crash Test Certification PAS68 E IWA (Level K4).
