Happy New Year!
Here we present a review of some of our projects executed in the year 2023 and recent years, highlighting the advantages of each product and why it has been specified for different projects.
Hopefully this will serve as a guideline for your product selection.
Chemically treated timber is by far the most popular timber to be used for boardwalks and country parks. This has been due to its relatively low cost, durability and sustainability. The timber offers high resistance to rot and termite with a guarantee of 20/50 years. Radiata pine can be harvested in about 7 years from plantations (compared to hard wood which takes about 30 years). Our product is FSC certified, making it extremely sustainable.

IPE is the top choice of hardwood for designers with proven performance. The timber is popular due to its attractive appearance, strength, durability and fire resistance (BS476, Part 6&7). Service life can be over 20 years depending on proper maintenance. It is relatively expensive and the supply of FSC certified IPE can be quite limited.

Due to its rapid growth and quick harvesting time (5-7 Years) bamboo composite is considered to be a more sustainable alternative to Wood Plastic Composite (WPC). The product is available in different colors and finishes and is being specified by many designers for decking and wall finishes.
Observation Deck & Bridge, Fanling Golf Course
Rice Husk Composite as the name implies, has rice husk as its main component. Rice husk is abundantly available as a recycle material and again is considered as a sustainable alternative to WPC.
Resysta, one of the main rice husk composite manufacturer offers a fire resistance (BS476 Part 6&7) product. The product can also be recycled, making it extremely environmentally friendly.
The other advantage of Resysta is that it is extremely versatile and workable, as it can be molded and bent to follow complicated designs. It has been successfully applied to railings and curved objects such as outdoor seating.
