Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Building 6W is being converted from a 20-year old office building into a laboratory and office building with full wet lab conversion. One of the biggest challenge of wet labs is to ensure potentially hazardous or contagious substances from laboratories to be exported without leakage. UPVC pipe leakage is not something desirable as those hazardous substances pose health or even life threats to researchers and everyone else in the building. Aeroseal duct sealing was used to assess leakage of the UPVC pipes in the hazardous exhaust gas system and seal leakages found. Original leakage was 34.1L/s (equivalent to a 11.4cm2 hole or 13% of system capacity), and is now reduced to 3.1L/s. Aeroseal offered a 91% reduction in duct leakage.
