About Studio Jia
Chan Chia Gunawan is an Indonesian Architect. He received his Bachelor Degree in Architecture from Tarumanagara University in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1998. With an eye and love for details, his past working experience in Indonesia includes as jewelry designer and interior designer. He joined CSYA Pte Ltd (formerly known as Chan Sau Yan Associates) in 2001 to pursue his passion for Architecture and Design. For more than 12 years in CSYA, He had led the team and completed projects comprising Good Class Bungalows and Condominium for some high profile and undisclosed clients. With the approval of the client, one of his works on a private residential @ Cove Drive, Sentosa was publicized on magazines such as Prestige Singapore (January 2013), Cubes (Oct-‐Nov 2012) and Architecture Malaysia (Vol 25, Issue 5). Paul McGillick also publicized it in an Architecture book “ The sustainable Asian House ” in 2013. He established Studio JiA in 2013, a multi-disciplinary firm that specializes in the built environment. Whilst he believes in rigorous, honest and logical approach to space planning, form making and detailing, he also believes that design language together with various of project-specific concepts, materials and color palettes should be constantly explored. Studio JiA holistic approach to design also means that a project should be fully managed from the overall design concept stage through to the detailing and design/selection of furniture, light fittings, fabrics and objects.
