About Tekton Architecture

TEKTONN ARCHITECTS  was founded in Paris, and established a permanent office in Chengdu at the end of 2017. We believe that Architecture is the connection between people and places, the context in which life takes place. Architecture is systematic reflections on life and context, a reverence for nature, an understanding of life, the transmission of time and memory, and the appropriate use of constructive technics. Our design begins with a rational and detailed reading of place, discovering the underlying connections and site logic in the complexities of the present, assessing the impact of scale on the environment, we investigate the feeling of space through opening and closing, yin and yang and proportion, analysing changes in behaviour. We are a group of architects who believe in the endless possibilities of contemporary architecture, always perfecting the skills of listening and observing; we are also builders of sites, studying materials and striving to find the most suitable methods for building on site, and we are committed to the pursuit of detail, building spaces that are comfortable and allow stories to happen. EXPERTISES URBAN STUDIES Urban, rural and public landscape The main purpose of planning and design is to discuss the relationship between human and nature among mountains, water and human settlements. How to maximize the integration into the situation of mountains and rivers, how to build a modern city and village with low pollution, high efficiency and wisdom. Give the region a unique spatial pattern, depict exciting landscapes, reflect the local culture and customs, integrate industries and residential forms, build a pleasant scale and spatial relationship, and encourage people to contact and share. Planning is a forward-looking work that requires a high-dimensional vision of the past, present and future at the same time. Respecting the past is extracting existing information, geography, ecology and humanities; understanding the present is sorting out the intricate needs of customers The core element of nature; looking forward to the future is the social value of design, creating a modern regional pattern that is pleasant, livable, and business-friendly. RENOVATION Existing building renovation The design of existing buildings is the art of linking past, present and future. The foundation of transformation is based on observation and foresight. Observation helps to understand the existing hermit terroir, materials, texture, context, material needs and social conditions; forward-looking performance helps the owner and the designer to find a certain point of balance and supports the innovation of the overall design. TERTIARY Educational, commercial and office space In the past ten years, nothing has changed more than the way knowledge and information flow now. Therefore, the forms of our education, training and work need to be updated urgently. We are good at working with our customers, listening to needs, understanding processes and technical points; but we also don't forget to challenge the stereotypes, think about different possibilities, and jointly find pleasing innovation fulcrums. CULTURAL & LANDMARK Culture and Landmarks Some buildings themselves require a higher perspective and surprising creativity than ordinary buildings, and there is no more interesting space than cultural buildings that can inspire designers to think: cultural buildings need more heaven (environment), people (humanities) and engineering ( material structure) harmony and unity. Precise analysis, rational thinking and unconstrained imagination, creativity is a point of balance. Form is the physical presentation of creativity: in addition to the pleasing visual aesthetics, it can also stimulate the interaction and progress between people and the environment, and between people, and finally manifested in the smooth opening and closing of the shape and subtle details. Proportion is the arts of relationship, which resides totally on precise construction. PHILOSOPHY IN SITU DESIGN All in the place, Tiantong insists that design is a process of narrative for the place. Changes in site elements lead to changes in design strategies. Research is the process of discovering the relevance of the site's environment, culture, climate, and human activities; and creation is based on the superposition of correlations, creating an irreplaceable pioneering architectural form that is superimposed on the site Generate surprising encounters. CONSTRUCTION CONTROL Building is the core design mission of Tiantong. Therefore, Tiantong provides integrated design services from planning, architecture to landscape and interior design. The digital and parametric integrated forward design ( IDP ) not only provides precise solutions for special-shaped nonlinear spaces, but also extends multi-party collaboration from planning, design decision-making, to component manufacturing and installation. Provide customers with detailed construction tracking services to ensure the complete expression of design intentions. MATERIAL BASED Study craftsmanship to show the beauty of physicality. Tiantong has set up a dedicated material laboratory to drive design evolution. We study the tactility, source and change of materials, which allows us to continuously improve construction methods and structures to ensure fine construction details, and also promotes the cooperation between Tiantong and scientists, artists and craftsmen to achieve unique spatial effects.
