Quarterdeck, The Ville Resort-Casino - Alspec

The extensive redevelopment of a Townsville waterfront resort has capitalised on the seaside location by using Alspec multi-fold doors to create an expansive indoor and outdoor bar and dining area. The major revamp of The Ville Resort-Casino in Far North Queensland has seen the property’s key entertainment areas reorientated to focus on beautiful views of the ocean and nearby picturesque Magnetic Island.

Located on the waterfront in the tourist destination of Townsville, The Ville complex has been expanded to include nearly 200 accommodation rooms, multiple conference and event spaces, an infinity pool with swim-up bar and six restaurants and bars. As one of the resort’s most popular venues, the Quarterdeck restaurant is described as offering relaxed and affordable dining, while also doubling as a late night live music venue.

To best position the Quarterdeck to take advantage of the ocean views, the interface between the indoor bar area and the outdoor dining seating was created using a series of four extra-large openings. The 5.7m wide by 3m high openings were constructed with Alspec Hawkesbury Commercial Multi-Fold doors supported by Swan Evo heavy duty bi-fold stiles.

Hawkesbury Multi-Fold doors are specifically designed to enable large floor to ceiling perimeter openings for both commercial and residential applications. The top-rolling doors use exclusive Centor hardware and tyred floor guides to effortlessly stack to each side when required.

Being located in the cyclone-prone Far North, it was important to also choose a product for the venue which could withstand the onslaught of potential weather extremes. With their concealed channels and Weatherseal technology the Hawkesbury doors are ideal for ensuring protection from the elements, forming a secure barrier to wind and rain when closed. In addition the heavy duty Swan Evo stiles work with the stabilising centre hinges to control bowing on such tall doors.

With the renovations complete, this locally owned and operated venue is now the perfect location for visitors to the hotel and casino to relax and appreciate the wide open spaces of this stunning seaside location.
