Successful Conclusion of the Inaugural “GO Green Futureproofing Green Building @ Qianhai” Forum With the First Batch of “BEAM Plus Existing Buildings” Certificates Presented to CR Longdation’s Buildings Outside Hong Kong

The HKGBC, BSL and SGBA are actively promoting the application of the green building standard "BEAM Plus" in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and internationally. In a brief six-month promotional period, more than 15 projects outside Hong Kong have confirmed their participation in various BEAM Plus assessments, including new buildings, existing buildings and interior fitting-out works. The projects are spread across locations such as Qianhai, Guangzhou, Macau and Africa, reflecting the versatility and the level of recognition of BEAM Plus. The HKGBC, BSL and SGBA welcome developers to submit their property projects constructed or owned outside Hong Kong to BEAM Plus for assessment, with the goal of establishing BEAM Plus as a globally recognised green building standard.
Since the launch of BEAM Plus in 2010, over 1,500 projects have been certified with BEAM Plus ratings. As of November 2024, there are more than 2,600 registered BEAM Plus projects, involving over 8,500 buildings and covering a gross floor area exceeding 90 million square metres.
The inaugural “GO Green Futureproofing Green Building @ Qianhai” Forum concluded successfully on 22 November at the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub. Co-organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), BEAM Society Limited (BSL) and Shenzhen Green Building Association (SGBA), the Forum focused on green building standards in the Greater Bay Area, technological applications, ESG and green finance, green construction materials, as well as case studies of innovative green building. During the Forum, the HKGBC presented the first batch of “BEAM Plus Existing Buildings” certificates to the 3 hotels under China Resources Longdation Company Limited (CR Longdation) in Shenzhen Bay, Xiaojing Bay and Xiong’an, demonstrating that the influence of BEAM Plus has been expanded to regions outside Hong Kong.

Ms WANG Xiang-yu, the Secretary-General of SGBA, along with a group of guests, actively participated in the roundtable discussion on the development direction of the green building industry in the Greater Bay Area.
Members of the Green Building Industry Alliance in Guangdong-HongKong-Macao Greater Bay Area discussed the application direction of green building materials at a roundtable meeting.
