Learning Objectives:
1. Explain how exposure to unwanted or excessive sound affects people physiologically, psychologically, cognitively and behaviourally.
2. Understand the importance of selecting acoustic materials to design for an optimal soundscape.
3. Reference Australian Standards AS/NZS 2107: 16 to locate building applications and corresponding acoustic sound level and reverb time recommendations.
4. Use the Sabine equation and calculator to determine the coverage and NRC performance of materials required to achieve the optimal reverberation time for any given space.
5. Assess and evaluate different acoustic materials in the market using relevant criteria.
