About K&W Architects Ltd
K&W Architects Ltd is an architectural firm, formed after re-structuring of a firm established by Mr Kwan Wing Hong, Dominic under the name Kwan & Partners in January 2001. Dominic has 42 years in his architectural career which is a testament to his talent and professionalism. He has made significant architectural contributions to Hong Kong and has served on a variety of advisory committees, sharing his valuable experience with respected bodies committed to enhance the built environment of Hong Kong. After graduating from the University of Hong Kong in 1972, Dominic went on to work for several architectural firms and the Hong Kong Public Works Department. From 1976 to 1978, he had the unique opportunity to lead Sun Hung Kai’s architectural design team and contribute to the formulation of the development strategy. T.S. Kwok, accompanied by Dominic, toured potential development sites in Hong Kong. Such excursions were the prelude to intensive brainstorming sessions during which strategic options were examined and potential schemes formulated. This insight into how the “client” operates has proven invaluable to his subsequent career. In 1979, Dominic became one of the founding directors of KNW Architects & Engineers Limited. Thanks to accomplished direction, the firm received HKIA recognition: the Silver Medal for Excellence in 1983, 1984 and 1989; and the Diploma of Merit in 1987. After the restructuring of KNW in 1991, Dominic established Kwan & Associates Architects Ltd. There was little need for reorganization, as most of the staff stayed to complete ongoing assignments. The firm’s reputation for skilled design and efficient project management has produced an impressive portfolio which includes the design of Island Place, Salisbury Garden Shopping Complex, Ko Shan Theatre improvements, and the University of Hong Kong Phase 5. A joint venture with Percy Thomas Partnership (Hong Kong) Ltd in 1987 produced an offshoot firm, Kwan-PTP, which provides comprehensive healthcare design services to both public and private sector clients. Naturally, Dominic was a director of Kwan-PTP. In 1995, Dominic was made chief executive of Kwan-PTP and this appointment has strengthened the relationship between the companies. Principal projects undertaken by Kwan-PTP include North District, Tai Po, Haven of Hope, and Tseung Kwan O Hospitals and the Hong Kong University New Medical Faculty Complex. In 2001, K&W Architects Limited is established, formed after re-structuring of Kwan K&W Partners.
