25 years of AXOR – powerful conversion of the bathroom
29 Nov 2018 by Hansgrohe
With his first collection in 1994, Philippe Starck turned the bathroom into a living room. In 1994 the designer takes the defined shapes of his Hansgrohe bathroom back to early bathtubs, water buckets and hand pumps. However, the philosophy is changing. Changing the bathroom into a place of peace and relaxation offering personal security and development in a fast-paced life is AXOR’s new bathroom philosophy in those days: The bathroom as a personal refuge.
The 1990s
The AXOR factory is inaugurated in Schiltach two years after Philippe Starck’s collection. At the ISH trade fair in 1997, the brand exhibits AXOR Azzur, AXOR Allegroh Novo and AXOR Steel, the first complete range in stainless steel. In 1999 the star architect Sir Norman Foster equips the Reichstag in Berlin with AXOR Steel fittings.
