Singapore’s longest fully underground MRT line – Cross Island Line (CRL – CR108) will be linked to existing MRT lines for seamless connectivity
The Cross Island Line (CRL), spanning over 50 kilometres long, will be Singapore’s longest fully underground MRT line when completed in 2030. The eighth rail line will have the highest number of interchange stations in Singapore and will be linked to existing MRT lines for seamless connectivity.
Serving residential and industrial areas in Loyang, Tampines, Pasir Ris, Hougang, Serangoon North and Ang Mo Kio, the CRL will be linked to major hubs such as the Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District, and the Changi region.
Construction works for the Pasir Ris station on the CRL are slated to start in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Aurecon has been appointed as the lead consultant to Daewoo Engineering & Construction – Dongah Geological Engineering Singapore Branch Joint Venture (DDJV), which won the contract from Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) for Contract CR108.
The contract valued at approximately S$980 million, comprises the design, construction and completion of Pasir Ris Interchange Station, cut & cover (C&C) tunnels, bored tunnels from Pasir Ris Interchange Station to Pasir Ris East Station, a launching shaft for tunnel boring machines (TBM) and Alterations and Additions (A&A) to the existing Pasir Ris EWL Station.
Aurecon worked closely with DDJV to put forward an optimised design proposal which leverages digital tools to ensure the design will be carried out efficiently, effectively and safely.
The team will be working closely with the contractor on the detailed design of civil structures, architecture, mechanical and electrical works during the design and construction phases of the project.
Yang San (YS) Go, Aurecon’s Managing Director for Singapore said, “We are excited to be working with Daewoo Engineering and Construction – Dongah Geological Engineering, Singapore Branch Joint Venture on this project. We look forward to bringing Contract CR108 to life through adopting an innovative and user-centric design approach, to better serve the needs of the community.”
“We are delighted to be appointed as the lead consultant to Contract CR108. This is a testament to Aurecon’s rail and mass transit expertise, an integral offering of our business. Our team is looking forward to contributing to the development of Singapore’s Cross Island Line, a transformational rail project that will seek to improve connectivity in Singapore’s eastern, north-eastern and western corridors,” said Stephane Asselin, Chief Executive, Aurecon Asia.
Aurecon’s business in Asia is growing from strength to strength, especially in the rail and mass rapid transit sector. In addition to Contract CR108, Aurecon is currently working on Contract J109 and Contract J102 on the design and construction of several stations for the Jurong Region Line in Singapore.
Aurecon was also awarded a major design contract by Hong Kong’s MTR Corporation to work on the Tuen Ma Line Extension.
