Lyrebird House, thus named because it is a complete contradiction between unassuming exterior with the jewel-like (yet minimalistic) polish of the interior, is a complete renovation of a uniquely designed architect’s home that was built in the ’70s. The house was large enough that no extension was needed. Rara underwent the exercise of redeploying the spaces to better suit our current lifestyles, as well as that of the owners. There was a lot of restraint practised in the execution of this reborn brutalist house. This restraint paid off, allowing one to quietly absorb the sheer scale and monument of this brilliant home.
