Dwellingpals Studio has renovated a combination two old shop house which the stairs in the centre of the layout plan. It was a messy - compartmentalized floor plan. The shop houses have been abandoned about 4 years, previously this shop house has been used by a bank with a vault room, typically built out of reinforce concrete without any direct sunlight and ventilation. With this challenge in mind, our aim is to help the client discover and maximize the hidden potentials in the current space, as well as in creasing their quality of clinic.
Located in Bekasi, a major city east of Jakarta, the Setara Clinic Aesthetic and Wellness is a small practice offering patients about skin treatments. "We want to make our service included in all segments of society. Regardless of social background, type of skin, we will try to provide maximum service in the clinic where the patients who come to the clinic feel peaceful and are able to talk about everything openly," said the owners. To establish this feeling of openness, Dwellingpals Studio began by simplifying the structure of the space. All superfluous partitions were demolished, leaving only structural and stairs elements.
Post-pandemic skincare clinic may need to feel more inviting to entice the patients back. The layout of the clinic was designed so that there are clear pathways through the space making the admission process as quick and easy as possible. A small area of 140 square meters requires a planning solution to ensure complete privacy, an individual approach to the management of each patient, the absence of queue and feeling of calm & comfort.
The result is an open-plan receptions and waiting area with curved ceiling with white wall. The reception area is totally in white, a colour of purity, suggest goodness and innocence. Its elusive nature provides a sense of serenity. The waiting area is designed to accommodate a maximum of four patients at a time and is fitted out with televisions and internet access. The designers have added natural materials such as warm-toned wood on the furniture and the floor were used to create a feeling of familiarity. The look of the clinic also further lit through a glazed wall that display the interior of the clinic to the street which an aspect of welcoming people to come in.
The empty space under the stairs can be useful, slightly different from others, we choose to make a central ‘Zen Spot’ area that form to be the focal point of the clinic or called as pavilion of the clinic.
Each consultations room is equipped with a counter and terrazzo sink and a desk where doctors can make notes and talk with patients and the colours in every room are intended for different purpose. The rooms featured bright coloured surface in soft mint and natural wood, which represent the colour of life, to give a fresh and secure ambience for the patient while consulting their problems.
Waiting area II is fitted with a small pantry and comfy bench, where the patient can enjoy a peaceful hideaway while waiting the calls. It is an open pantry where the patient can grab cup of drink. The accent dark teal create a bold and personal into the area that sophisticated self-confidence. An accent that provided plenty of energy and adds exciting character to the clinic.
Our extensive knowledge of unique design led us to create a fresh and compact style of urban living, with medical environment and a wellness experience. Each room except pharmacy is fronted by un-framed glass door with minimalism pattern that help to maintain patients’ privacy while letting light in.
