From its beginnings in 1915, Trinity Grammar’s aim was to help boys discover their innate talents and unlock their full potential. With the historic and expansive Summerhill campus, the new Junior School provides a strong pastoral yet stimulating environment to meet the individual needs of boys as they begin their school experience.
Emphasizing a contemporary combination of steel and concrete along with bold, playful use of colour, the facility is a purpose built state-of-the-art educational building that stimulates engagement and fosters discovery. Understanding that learning environments are inherently transformative places involving processes of active enquiry, collaboration, research and more, the design accommodates for multiple learning configurations.
Operable walls are installed between pairs of classrooms and the wide variety of learning spaces such as break-out rooms and the resource centre allows for collaboration and exploration whilst encouraging access to other facilities of the wider campus. In addition to this, a naturally daylit interior of the school is achieved through the double height central atrium to further increase comfort and responsiveness of the students.
Trinity Grammar Junior School was chosen as an exemplar learning environment by the team leading the Learning Environments Australasia, featuring in the 2018 Regional Conference tours.
Learning and reflecting upon those who have gone before and building upon that, the new school embodied the theme of the conference – Reflection, Relevance and Revolution.
