Suasana Kopi Gandaria
This coffee shop is the third branch of the Atmosphere Coffee brand that acts as its flagship store.
Looking back from the previous stores, the brand's informal and relaxed atmosphere are the critical characteristics reflected in its outdoor sitting area. On that account, the architect started the initial design process based on the behavioural approach to bring the signature element into this flagship project.
The design concept of this project started from the client's desire to display a building that could appear as an icon on the street. The facade shape is crafted straightforward into a white cube with a painted top; that symbolises no perfect side of a business, and there is always be a room for improvement.
A special request is to minimise the use of wood elements in the design. However, the interior and architectural ambience are expected to remain warm and comfortable for customers to sit there for a long time. Therefore, the designer substituted wood by placing living plants as sculptural elements in the interior. In outdoor areas, the use of wood is limited to stools, so the effect is only limited to accents.
The effect is that the outdoor area dominates 50 per cent of the site area, and this outdoor area also has several functions at once. The rear outdoor space serves as an area for collaboration events with other brands. Meanwhile, the front outdoor area functions as indirect marketing because from the road, you can always see a crowd of customers sitting there, creating curiosity for passers-by to come to this place.
