Update Your Home Interior with Contemporary-looking Exposed Concrete Surfaces

The word “unfinished”, in reality, is merely a term. It does not necessarily mean not finished. If you look at them closely, these “unfinished” surfaces have actually been given some final touch like coating that makes them last longer and easier to clean.

This unfinished material gets more popular in the society along with the rise of industrial style design. Industrial style usually characterised by the exposure of utility network on the ceiling, the use of metal/iron and timber material, and the concrete walls and floors that are left bare without any paint or tiles covering them.

Even though the technique to produce good-looking exposed concrete is essential, the décor part is equally important. This unfinished material will stand out if combined with certain colour and element. For instance, since the colour of this finishing material is grey, you could try juxtaposing it with bright coloured furniture.

However, make sure that these bright coloured elements are not overly used so that the basic colour palette in the industrial style concept, like grey (cement), black (iron), and brown (wood), still dominates the interior.

You could always opt to finish one surface with exposed cement as the feature wall or spot of the room. Using timber parquet on the floor can also complement the exposed cement wall.

Not to be missed, it is recommended that exposed cement or concrete materials are coated to increase the material resistance to humidity and extreme weather, allowing the exposed cement or concrete to last longer and age well.
