URBANISMA  connotes Urbanism; the dynamics of urbanisation, in particular the transformation brought about by human and technological intervention that results in the urban ecosystem we have inherited – which we now identify as towns, cities or places that we live, work, and play. Originally founded as architectural practice in 1987 by prominent Malaysian architect  Ar Mohamed Hafiz Hashim , the firm has transcended the boundaries of architecture into what we would like to refer to as the art and science of creating places and spaces. Solutions for the built-environment are becoming more challenging and complex. Design solutions have to cut across multi-discipline thinking. Hence, Urbanisma’s design philosophy is that the initial steps to any design has to be holistic in approach, integrating the multi-faceted resolve of determinants of a particular project. How urban solutions address the balance between our natural environment and ecosystem remains our fundamental concern. Design is now being interpreted, dogmatised, measured as well as regulated in the form of green and sustainable design codes and carbon foot print reduction initiatives. The designed or built environment globally therefore has to be responsive to its natural surroundings, and of equal importance is the interpretation of culture and character in the aesthetical expressions of design. Thus, unique to the needs and requirement of each project or task, we embark on an intuitive design process that embodies the synthesis of layers of technical resolution and prioritize them accordingly in achieving the most desirable results. With the advancement of CAD and BIM technologies, which the firm is well-equipped with, the accuracy and speed of design is changing the landscape of the practice.
