About NMBW Architecture Studio
NMBW Architecture Studio is an architectural practice established in Melbourne in 1997, with an emphasis on urban engagement and culturally-specific design. We specialise in an analytical, research based approach, linking site-specific actions to larger urban and landscape concerns. Our working process is a lively collaboration between the three directors, clients, particular site conditions and various local traditions. NMBW’s projects have been published in leading national and international journals, including Architecture Australia , Architectural Review Australia , Backlogue , Transition , Casabella (Italy) and AIT Magazine (Germany) and awarded across a range of categories, including urban design, sustainable architecture, interior architecture, public architecture and residential architecture. NMBW projects have also been recognised for their broader contributions to Melbourne’s public realm and to rural & regional Victoria. NMBW is included in the Encyclopedia of Australian Architecture published by Cambridge University Press. The practice has been the recipient of both the Harold Desbrowe-Annear Award , and the John and Phyllis Murphy Award , the most significant residential architecture prizes awarded in the state of Victoria.
