There’s something special about checking into a hotel suite. A room designed and furnished to provide the best home-away-from-home feeling in the most luxuriously self-indulgent way. With beds, pillows and curtains made of the highest quality fabrics that give the room a sense of richness, don’t you just miss being able to book a hotel for a weekend staycation?
Worry no more, homebound travellers! Just because we’re staying home doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy some level of luxury too. As one of the industry’s leading soft furnishings experts, we at Curtain Library have the tips and tricks you can use when it comes to giving homes a hotel finish.
Here’s the big secret- it’s not just the fluffy pillows or cloud-like beds that make hotel rooms perfect.
1. Enjoy the benefits of using hotel-grade Blackout or Dimout curtains in your own household!
The most guaranteed switch that will turn any home into a hotel suite is by setting up expertly tailored Blackout curtains on your windows. Blackout curtains are made from thickly woven fabric that help maximise comfort by blocking out light from entering the room, effectively keeping the room cool and dark as you sleep. Having your curtains made in the right fabric materials is how you can best match the standards that world-class hotels have to meet.

Curtain Library’s Acacia Park project with the Low Yat Group is a perfect example of how well-made tailored curtains could carry the look and feel of a room. Our expert team of tailors know the right stitches and methods that give curtains the hotel-finish.
We’ve gone into detail about what makes Curtain Library’s Blackout curtains the go-to choice for hotels, you can read more about them in our previous article, here.
For an alternative to Blackout curtains, we recommend homeowners to have a look at our Helsinki Collection of 90% Dimout curtains for a more contemporary curtain collection. Our Dimout curtains come with dual-tone fabrics that are specially curated by our designers that perfectly harmonises to your surroundings. Not only that, the polyester used to make them is one of the industry’s most durable, sturdy, and easy-to-maintain material! That means you won’t have to worry about wrinkling, shrinkage or stretching after putting your curtains through the wash.
2. Complete your curtains with a Sheer set to let light filter softly into your room.
Blackout or Dimout curtains just aren’t complete without a set of Sheer curtains, it’s the hotel window treatment formula! This formula is not just for show as well. Imagine this: you wake up in a dark room from the best sleep ever and you walk towards your curtains to draw them open- only to be blinded by the sunlight! Hotel rooms are designed to ensure that this doesn’t happen.

With sheer curtains, natural light filters into the room as a soft early morning or midday glow that lets your eyes gently adjust from darkness to light. Curtain Library’s Helsinki 2021 Collection comes in Dimout with Sheer curtain sets for this very purpose. We believe that to best capture the essence of hotel comfort in the home is to stick with these practices in the industry. Not only that, sheer fabric really strikes the balance between your needs for privacy and natural light in the house.
3. Invest in Kirov Motorised Curtain Systems that open and close by the sound of your voice, smartphone or remote control.
Another way to really spice up your home is by setting up your curtains to use a motorised track system. As featured in our Desa Park City project, Curtain Library’s state-of-the-art Kirov Motorised Curtain Systems are designed to bring luxury to the home through voice command or remote-controlled curtain pulling experience. 4. Get some Blinds to really add variety and a zen experience.
If you’re looking for a more light and minimalist hotel look, we recommend for you to play with natural light when setting up your window treatments. Designers love to use window blinds and shades to really give their rooms more texture. A good thing to keep in mind is that texture doesn’t come from just fabric materials.
Curtain Library Icon Residence Blinds
As seen in our Icon Residence project, adding blinds to your bed room makes for a really zen interior design choice.
Window blinds allow you to adjust the amount of natural light that streams into the room, without forfeiting your privacy. Curtain Library provides one of the best blinds to our clients with the most durable and easy-to-maintain materials. 5. Throw in some quality soft furnishing materials to really finish off that well decorated look!
Do you know what really gives your room a super unique hotel-room finish? Custom-made upholstered walls, throw pillows, and other soft furnishing materials with fabric designs and colours that harmonize with your curtains! Upholstery, by the way, is the art of modifying any piece of furniture with paddings, springs, or webbings, that is then topped off with fabric or leather covers. In hotel rooms, this can usually be seen as chair cushions, bed headboards, or even fabric wall panels.
Curtain Library Aloft Langkawi Furnishing
Never underestimate what having a few throw pillows, padded wall-panels, or a decorative fabric installation could do to a room. As seen in our Aloft Langkawi Pantai Tengah project, we were able to capture the beachy-seafront look that our clients were looking for in their guest rooms.
Upholsteries are one of the best ways you can inject a bit of your personal tastes and preferences to your rooms! While Curtain Library’s main focus is in tailoring curtains, our talented tailors are also skilled in upholstery projects as well. We believe that being able to help our clients find the right matching furniture and materials to go with the curtains is just as important as giving advice on how to properly care for their curtains in the long run.
