18 Aug 2023 by Vebro Polymers
To coincide with the start of the new year, the launch of our new manufacturing business in Southeast Asia and our newly signed international distribution partnerships in the US, Europe and Middle East, Vebro Group is pleased to announce the formation of its own dedicated international Specification Team, which is to be headed up by newly-promoted Global Specifications Director, Robert Gray.
When it comes to specifying seamless polymer flooring and cementitious levelling screeds for new-build schemes and sustainable developments, clients and specifiers face steep learning curves on the correct materials required to make their respective buildings and projects meet the right criteria.
There’s nobody more qualified than Robert to build and lead a dedicated team of technical flooring advisors that will aid clients and project specifiers, located across the world, through the process of specifying Vebro Polymers’ flooring systems and proprietary levelling screeds.
Taking a holistic approach that considers the entire floor build-up from the substrate to the final finish, Robert is well versed in all aspects of floor design.
Robert and his team will work with specifiers not only to understand the service criteria and functional needs of the area in question but to design a tailor-made system from the slab upwards, incorporating levelling screeds, underfloor heating pipework and performance finishes.
Based in Edinburgh, Robert has over 35 years’ experience working in a specification role for several market-leading building materials and construction chemical brands and has built up a wide network of contacts in the field.
Robert has been involved in the design and build of several flagship and award-winning new-build schemes across the UK & Ireland over three decades, including most recently, Sunderland City Hall.
Here, more than 3,000 square metres of Vebro Polymers’ decorative epoxy terrazzo flooring system was specified over seven floors of the building in two unique colour blends.
The decorative terrazzo system, the blend of which was handpicked by the architect, was installed over a retaining underfloor heating screed system as well as large areas of raised access flooring.
To mitigate any potential cracking resulting from movement within the screeded substrate and raised access flooring, a two-component polyurea membrane offering both elastomeric properties was also specified.
The impressive building has since amassed a roster of design accolades including an AJ Architecture, Contract Flooring Association and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Northeast Award.
Speaking of this latest development, Robert said, “I’m delighted to be taking up the baton and working towards building a dedicated global team that will be able to support architects and specifiers working on design schemes from Tokyo to New York.
“Specifying synthetic polymer flooring and levelling screeds can be a real headache for those when trying to navigate performance, structural, environmental, aesthetic, and budgetary requirements.
“Vebro Polymers is committed to providing the hands-on technical specification support needed to ensure development and asset managers across the globe can optimise their specifications while at the same time minimise costs.
“I look forward to building a global team that will place Vebro Polymers at the forefront of the stage to the architecture, engineering, and construction community”. Adds Robert.
As a result of this exciting news, Vebro Polymers is now looking to recruit an experienced Flooring Sales Manager who will work alongside Robert over the coming months and will focus on supporting Robert’s existing applicator customer base situated predominantly across the North and Scotland with all day-to-day sales and supply requirements.
Robert will remain on hand to assist his established customer network but will prioritise bolstering the specification pipeline and generating reciprocal business for Vebro Polymers partners worldwide.
Speaking of the latest announcement, Craig Brookes, CEO for Vebro Group said,
“We are delighted to be launching a dedicated global specification team that will assist architects and specifiers with the flooring and screed packages on their schemes.
“Robert’s wealth of experience in this area, and his long standing in the resin flooring and screeding industries, makes him the ideal candidate to head up this new division.
“We wish him the very best in his new role and are confident that this move will yield much success for Vebro moving forwards.”
