The site of this mixed development is in a prominent location within the vicinity of the iconic Petronas twin towers. It has the KL Convention Center as its neighbour and is surrounded by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and high end retail centers and condominiums. The site constraints resulted in a layout consisting of a 41-storey tower at the north eastern part of the site with a 2-storey podium to the left, housing 2 ballrooms, on top of which lies an infinity edge pool deck and a cafe.
Hotel guests arriving at the ground floor lobby are greeted and whizzed up to the Sky Lobby at 38 Mezzanine floor in high speed lifts with a panoramic view of the city as a background while checking in. There are abundant F&B outlets on the lower floor of the Sky Lobby. The service core is relatively large due to the requirements of several lift banks to serve both the hotel and office components. The office floors are tucked in between the hotel floors at higher levels and the podium level. At ground level there is an F&B outlet that faces KL Convention Center with outdoor terrace dining amidst small trees and water features.
The ground floor lobby has an atrium like feel with high ceiling space, dominated by a sweeping grand staircase in glass. The business center at level 1 is designed with an urban ‘residential’ décor. The level 2 Spa flows out into the pool deck area with an oval shaped infinity pool and pavilions with planted roof tops. Two ballrooms are stacked directly beneath the pool deck. The colour of the glass facade with a subtle hint of ‘gold’ differentiates itself from its neighbours in the KLCC skyline. At night, the Sky Lobby exudes a jewel like illumination within this enclave of prominent buildings in the city of KL.
