SBA Architects was commissioned to design a number of KFC restaurants, with one of their flagship stores located in Newcastle being a standout design. The modern eat-in restaurant also includes drive-through, 29 car parks as well as a separate retail tenancy.
The floating quality of the roof line is enhanced by internal lighting, important to creating an illuminated glow and unique aspect which is readily identifiable for visitors at night. Glass eaves with sculptural steel brackets amplify the lightness of this design while promoting the KFC brand’s iconic colour scheme. Interior walls are a focal point, with built-in pixelated imagery and colourful graphic detail.
