Growing demand for outside school hour care at OLHOC Primary School, required the implementation of an upgrade and expansion program for the OSHC. The existing facility was effectively landlocked between the school and the main road. It was agreed that relocation elsewhere on the school site was the solution. The transportable classroom buildings became available as a result of other Diocesan school expansion programs, and these were utilised as part of the design.
The transportable buildings provided 4 Classrooms and 2 offices, which were arranged around a new, elevated covered secure outdoor play area. This area can be opened during operational times, and it connects to the external play areas via a specially designed stepped seating arrangement. A new food preparation area with the ability to cater for over 120 students has also been incorporated together with a new amenities building for both students and staff.
