The client wanted a good tropical house within their limited budget. They dreamed a house that could accommodate a family gathering but still performs as a compact scale house. The site area is a perfectly rectangular ground measured at 8m x 15m. Some strategies are used so that the client’s wishes are fulfilled within the budget constraints.
The first thing done is limiting the build area as optimally as possible. The Client wanted 3 single bedrooms and 1 master bedroom for this house. Complemented with open plan living and dining room, kitchen, and service area, 135sqm of the area are built as optimally as possible to fulfil the rooms mentioned.
The service area was located on the front area and camouflaged with rosters that are leveled with the gate to block it visually, so that the private area could be placed freely. To reduce the building material cost optimally, we made the building’s floor to floor level as low as 3.2 meters. But with only about 135 sqm, the most optimal void area can only be placed above the open plan area to get the higher ceiling. The garden area is then placed in the backyard to make a good ventilation. Glasses are also reduced by design to reduce exposure from excessive sunlight, especially from the west of the building.
