Thirty projects from across Aotearoa have been shortlisted for this year’s Interior Awards across nine categories, from futuristic workplaces to heartwarming kitchens and much more. Interior editor of Architecture NZ and convenor of the jury Amanda Harkness said, “True to form, we received an incredibly wide range of projects this year and, in some categories, the calibre of entries was so high it was a real challenge for the jury to choose just three finalists.” Close scores resulted in four finalists in some categories.

“What was heartening to see were projects reclaiming spaces originally built for other uses, the inclusion of natural, sustainable materials, all carefully detailed and assembled, and the rise of spaces which echo the language and culture of Aotearoa. We were also presented with a number of emerging design professionals, whose talents and insightful, inclusive thinking bode well for the future of the industry,” Harkness continued.

The 30 finalists will present live to the judging panel on 19 and 20 May, which will also be live-streamed and available to watch anywhere right here on ArchitectureNow.

Winners will be announced at the Interior Awards event on 24 June 2021 at Webb’s in Auckland. Tickets go on sale 2 June and will be available at interiorawards.co.nz.
