About Cheshire Architects
Cheshire Architects is a practice that does special projects. From our Auckland office we develop diverse projects in intensive collaboration with local and international clients. With them, we pursue the extraordinary across all scales, budgets and typologies. Our studio of twenty-five architects and designers moves fluidly from luxury retreat to civic master plan to downtown bistro. We leverage this breadth and depth of experience to shape every aspect of an environment, delivering an architecture and experience of total cohesion. Cheshire Architects practices urbanism, architecture, project management, and interior, furniture, graphic and packaging design. Our current projects at Britomart and the City Works Depot have leveraged the full spectrum of this practice, re-building half of downtown Auckland, from the reconfiguring of its streets to the teaspoons of its luxury nightclubs. Everything we do is bespoke. We begin each relationship from its own core principles, and work closely alongside our clients to deliver projects that exceed their hopes, dreams and ambitions. Cheshire Architects delivers the sophistication of a boutique studio with the confident management of a highly experienced firm. It is a practice that undertakes projects of great luxury and great poverty with equal enthusiasm, and with equal ease. It is a partnership of directors Pip and Nat Cheshire, who have previously run both the smallest and the largest architecture firms in New Zealand, and have worked together for over a decade. They pair massive design ambitions with clear, powerful systems of management and delivery. The office is tightly managed, and has long-established information and communication systems. We are committed to establishing and working closely with the best project teams – including client, project managers, skilled operators, leasing and commercial specialists, expert consultants, and contractors. Our work receives global acclaim and awards. Recent projects include Auckland’s Q Theatre; the development of city precincts at Britomart, City Works Depot and Osborne Lane; the University of Auckland’s Marine Research Campus; the reinvention of nationwide offices for Genesis Energy; The Mountain Landing peninsula and its luxury lodges; bespoke retail stores throughout New Zealand and Australia; and a host of Auckland’s most recognised and best-loved hospitality spaces.
