An innovative REVEGO pocket system solution from Blum helped achieve the client’s vision of a sleekly elegant design with no complications.
The kitchen was specified and installed by Prime Interiors, with chief designer and joiner Paul Stephen working in partnership with the architect and client. One of the key goals was to integrate cabinetry with appliances in a fairly constrained footprint. However, the client still required the ability to screen off different zones to create a multifunctional space.
REVEGO, with its ingenious pocket design and absence of handles, motors or wiring, enabled Paul to create different workspaces without extraneous hardware.
Making the most of the available space.
Paul Stephen knew that the design would have work hard in order to achieve the desired look of effortless minimalism:
“There wasn’t a lot of space. We had to make it easy for users to access different areas, but without a lot of mechanisms and doors intruding into the workflows. And it had to work with the handle-less, dark design the owners were committed to.”
Ease of use was another critical consideration:
“In a practical sense, we liked the fact that REVEGO is so easy to use. It doesn’t rely on motors – you can push the door with one finger, and it moves in and out of the pocket space. It’s solid and substantial, so you can treat it as a mobile wall, but you don’t have to be a bodybuilder to operate it.”
Simple to specify, easy to install.
Paul says that the process of specifying and integrating REVEGO into the programme was another plus:
“It was extremely simple. We punched the dimensions into the Blum planning tool and imported the result into our programme. Then we sent it to a CNC machinist for cutting and the kit was delivered on-site as a pack with all the necessary elements. There were no hiccups whatsoever.”
When it was time to slot the system into the build, things moved just as quickly. REVEGO is delivered as a complete kit onto the site, with everything the installer needs to create a functional pocket door system.
“We installed the two kits straight out of the box. From start to finish it took less than four hours,” says Paul.
“We brought our apprentices along to watch and learn. After one of our experienced trade guys completed the first installation with the apprentices observing, they took over for the second door. There were no problems, no special tools, no special training, no cranes – and only one cut required.
“It was 10 times faster than we’ve experienced with other door systems.”
Mission accomplished.
According to Paul, the owner is delighted with the final result. Thanks to REVEGO, they now have a highly functional kitchen in a beautifully crafted design, with no fussy details to detract from the stunning sea views.
“They said their vision has been delivered. You don’t often get feedback like that.”
