As Kingspan’s insulated roof panels are a single component, the building process is simple. Installation is easy and fast over a large area and a Kingspan roof can be installed during a variety of weather conditions, which means a quick passed building close in.
Ormiston Junior College in Auckland features Kingspan Insulated Panels’ Trapezoidal KS1000RW roof and wall panel.
Part of the Public Private Partnership 2 (PPP2) project, covering the construction and maintenance of four new schools across New Zealand which also included Wakatipu High School in Queenstown, and Haetea Community Campus and Rolleston Secondary School in greater Christchurch.
Designed and built as innovative learning environment (ILE), all schools have been built to the same template and specification. All feature Kingspan’s Trapezoidal KS1000 RW roof and wall panel, which is made up of a PIR insulation core sandwiched between two layers of steel, delivering high thermal performance (R values of up to 5.35), minimal air leakage and the elimination of risk of interstitial condensation and cold bridging, vital for a building that is to accommodate a lot of people.
Architect Logan Hooi from ASC Architects comments “At the start of the project, we were after a product that will deliver high thermal performance to meet NZ Green star requirements, a slender yet compressive roofing system which will not compromise the architecture outcome, and lastly a product that has been ‘tried and tested’. All this led us to the Kingspan trapezoidal KS1000RW roof.”
Ormiston Junior College aimed to achieve a 5 star Green Star Education rating. Kingspan KS1000 RW roof and wall panels are GreenTAG Goldplus and carry a comprehensive Total Panel Guarantee.
Ease of installation and site handling is also an attractive feature of the Trapezoidal KS1000RW roof and wall panel.
Nathan Taranaki of Watertight Construction (WTC Roofing) says “as Kingspan’s insulated roof panels are a single component, the building process is simple. Installation is easy and fast over a large area and a Kingspan roof can be installed during a variety of weather conditions, which means a quick passed building close in”.
The project was a winner of the 2018 Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards in the GIB Education Property Award category (Excellence).
