Project Overview
Officially opened on 1 February 2023, Landsdale Gardens Primary School is a newly constructed and established school designed to support a contemporary approach to learning – an innovative school that reflects the local culture and a fast-growing community.
Designed by T&Z Architects and contracted by Universal Constructions, Landsdale Gardens Primary School features state-of-the-art facilities and landscaped grounds that will enhance the educational experience for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
Moddex was engaged in the supply and installation of compliant balustrades and disability handrails throughout the new school to support safety and compliance needs.
Assistrail® Disability Handrail Specified for DDA Access Ramps & Stairways
Moddex Assistrail® Disability Handrails were specified at various access points throughout the school. With two parking areas, it was imperative that a compliant handrail system supported all accessibility ramps to ensure that all students, visitors and staff, including the mobility-impaired or vision-impaired, could traverse the school safely and with ease.
In particular, Assistrail® configurations AR110 and AR140 (double rail offset handrail systems) were specified to gain specific compliance with Class 9b buildings for primary schools whilst also mitigating or eliminating falls from above one metre.
Compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), Moddex Disability Handrails are a turnkey option due to their adaptability to apply to every building classification within the National Construction Code (NCC), providing smooth and continuous top rails for compliance with AS1428.
Conectabal® Commercial Balustrades for Retaining Walls & DDA Access Ramps and Stairs
Moddex Conectabal® Commercial Balustrades (CB10) were specified throughout the school property retaining walls and stairways where the mitigation or elimination of falls from above one metre is required.
Working seamlessly with other specified safety barriers and Assistrail® handrails, Conectabal® balustrading offers a high safety load rating and achieves compliance with applicable Australian standards, including Class 9b buildings for primary schools.
Why was Moddex chosen?
The architect specified Moddex modular barrier systems primarily to secure safety and compliance with the corresponding standards, including the DDA.
Besides our systems being easy to specify, they are also easy to install. Truly a range of systems where everything fits.
All Moddex systems are assembled via a simple, no-weld construction method. Our fast-assembled no-weld systems reduce opportunities for corrosion and eliminate the need for specialist trades, hot works permits, fire spotters, welding protection, toxic fumes and fire risk hazards.
