Clients brief was to design two secondary dwellings on adjoining allotments and acheive a point of difference from typical granny flat developments in area.
The design solutions was articulation of the buildings footprint, capped with skillion roofs which provided a strong angular aesthetic to the streetscape.
Upon entering, you are drawn into open plan living with high raked ceilings and highlight windows providing ventilation, awareness of space and a visual link to the external environment. Cost effective design principals were also adpoted to provide a straight forward structure, minimising budget costs without compromising a high level of finishes.
The project acheives excellent rental return with privacy maintained for both the occupants and main residences whilst not impacting neighbours.
