Maybank Kim Eng offers six storeys of Grade-A office space with excellent frontage along New Bridge Road
Between North Canal Road and Hong Kong Street, the site is just a stone’s throw from the heart of Singapore’s central business district. It is also near the Singapore River, which enjoys a good mix of entertainment, commercial, and residential uses.
The concept design envisaged a dynamic building form expressed by the placement of a floating ‘jewel box’ on a stable rectangular volume.
The jewel box is lifted 11 metres off the first storey level and cantilevered up to 9 metres from the main building structure between the third storey and the roof crown. The facade presents distinct cladding and clean lines, with adjustable louvres built in to form a double skin. At night, with facade lighting, it is envisaged as a glowing box floating against a darker background. The facade of the rectangular volume is expressed by the curtain wall skins and the repeating patterns of perforated aluminium panels that give shape to the ‘diamond facade.
Responding to the urban environment, the first storey has been designed as a large covered public plaza at the New Bridge Road/North Canal Road corner. The Plaza addresses Hong Lim Park opposite. The main lobby and vehicular drop-off area will be integrated with the public open area.
