Longhua Archives is located in the north of Shenzhen Longhua Guanlan Cultural and Art Center. It bridges over two narrow sites with a public road running in the middle. Our greatest challenge is to find a balance between the security and publicness of the building, yet to form a synergy with urban context to provide flexible spaces for diverse cultural possibilities in the future.
Longhua Archives is designed for the future and the public citizens. It combines education, cultural exhibition and urban archive functions into a multi-purpose cluster. The design provides various flexible cultural and creative spaces for education and exhibition purposes horizontally in order to form dialogue with various urban interfaces. The archives form a cultural sharing platform for the city and will become a brand new cultural landmark for the Longhua New District.
