Nestled away on a leafy hill in Park Orchards was a house called Wilkie. Wilkie was warm, Wilkie was fun; Wilkie wanted to play. As most bunkered away over a long lockdown in Melbourne’s winter of 2020, Wilkie readied up for a big summer.
Wilkie’s owners love to share, they love to give; they don’t want to have fun by themselves, they want you there with them. Wilkie’s owners were welcoming.
Wilkie’s new outdoor entertainment area solely aimed to serve that purpose – to welcome. Whether it be for a family dinner or to relax by the pool, Wilkie was to be enjoyed by everyone.
The new space converged around the house’s existing pool, like poolside cabanas married to the existing house.
A new bar connects the inside to the out, enabling entertaining with ease at all times of the day.
The addition connected spaces from all around the house, including the existing living room, bar area, and the master bedroom. As well as this, they provided some necessary northern shading to protect the interiors from the harsh summer sun.
