Haikou Jiangdong Tiandi Mixed-Use: A Gateway for Commerce, Culture, and Coastal Innovation in Hainan Close to Completion
Organized under the pioneering “Three Zones, One Center” framework, the development integrates creative offices, ecological commerce, coastal entertainment, and art exhibitions. Its program includes duty-free retail, gourmet dining, and tech-driven workspaces, all curated to create globally resonant destinations. At its heart lies a central axis linking the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) hub to Jiangdong Seaside Park, complemented by a sunken plaza and shaded cloisters—ingeniously designed to temper Hainan’s tropical climate—anchoring vibrant public spaces.
Six dynamic façades punctuate the site, blending nature, technology, and culture through 3D LED displays, kinetic wind-chime walls, and plot-specific designs that incorporate entertainment, gourmet offerings, and duty-free retail. These elements converge to create Instagrammable “check-in spots” that foster community engagement and establish the project as a social and cultural nexus.
Christopher Lye, Principal at Woods Bagot, emphasizes the design philosophy: “Jiangdong Tiandi is not just architecture; it’s a narrative inviting people to connect with their environment. By merging economic vitality, natural serenity, and innovation, we’re crafting a blueprint for sustainable urbanism that aligns with Hainan’s Free Trade Port ambitions.”
Momentum continues to build as the newly opened leasing office, Youth Lab, announces commitments from 32 international brands. Slated for completion by mid-2025, Haikou Jiangdong Tiandi is poised to propel the city’s evolution into a global hub for culture, commerce, and connectivity—testament to the power of architecture to shape cities and communities.
