HNL Engineering and Construction is a consulting firm specializing in structural engineering, project management and construction services with offices located at #32 11th Street, New Manila Quezon City. The founder of the firm, Engr. Hugo N. Lozano is a professional engineer with progressive and responsible engineering experience. He is responsible for soliciting clients, marketing, promotion, and all daily aspects of running the business. He graduated from San Francisco State University, San Francisco, CA, USA in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering degree. While studying and after graduation, Engr. Hugo worked for a Pacific Gas and Electric Company in San Francisco California, U.S.A on a variety of gas planning projects including the Emergency Planning System and Anti-Corrosion Systems. In 1997, Engr. Hugo moved to Manila, Philippines where he worked for the leading Structural Engineering Firm, Aromin & Sy + Associates as a Project Design Engineer, where he gained structural engineering experience. He worked in a myriad of projects from High Rise to Shopping Malls. Most valuable contribution to ASAI is the Research and Development of High Strength Concrete (10,000 psi) in the Philippines used for the Pacific Plaza Project, Fort Bonifacio, Manila. He notably co-authored a technical paper “High-Strength Concrete –Structural Design Considerations” presented at a Forum on High-Strength Concrete sponsored by the Philippine Constructors Association, World Trade Center, November 22, 1997. From 2001, Engr. Hugo started a fit-out construction firm, while still practicing structural engineering work in his own capacity. He gained practical experience in application of interior finishing work as well as building construction. He worked with leading architects and interior designers on various projects from simple store fit-out to design and build of model units and low rise buildings. He is also an active member in various organizations for continuing education and for development of design guidelines and standard building codes. He is currently a member of Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines (ASEP), Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) , and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
