8 Dragon Metal was founded in 2010 by a group of young social entrepreneurs who are passionate about finding long term solutions to help save the environment, improve the welfare of society at large, and running an independent, self-sustaining enterprise altogether. Our goal is to educate, inform and provide a more effective, low-cost and sustainable alternative to replace the use of wood materials in home building.

One of the biggest environmental threats confronting our native Philippines is deforestation and the illegal destruction of forest. Illegal logging still persists because people are not well informed of sustainable materials that could effectively replace the use of wood products in home building. In addition, the Philippines have a rapidly emerging economy with a massive housing supply shortfall. According to the Chamber of Real Estate and Builder’s Association (CREBA), we have a housing backlog of 5.5 million units and counting. Developers are turning over 300,000 housing units a year and those numbers are expected to rise to 500,000. However, shortfall in housing supply is also expected to rise to 6.5 million units by the year 2030. Without proper awareness of new alternatives to home building, the effects to the Philippine forest could be catastrophic.

Since our inception in 2010, we have educated thousands of resellers, builders, developers and end users on the benefits of using Light Metal Frames, Fiber-Cement Boards, and Gypsum Boards to replace wood and plywood. Our products are fire retardant, lightweight, termite free, not prone to rotting or warping, saves trees, and best of all, low cost. We have saved hundreds of thousands of trees from being unnecessarily logged by successfully marketing these alternative products to market. We will continue to be steadfast against environmental threats and support the development of our emerging nation.

Eight Dragon Metal envisions itself to be the leading educator, promoter, and provider of sustainable, durable, and eco-friendly home building materials to developing nations worldwide. As countries commence toward their economic aspirations, we want to be their partners in responsible infrastructure building. We envision ourselves as a catalyst for economic development with environmental consciousness. In the next few years, we will export our knowledge and products overseas to assist developing nations build cheaper, better quality, and greener infrastructures. Preserving the environment and driving growth are the main purpose of our existence. We start each day embracing this philosophy, which defines our vision that empowers us to push further.
