Juries for the 2023 OGRAÂ
Four renowned professionals will join the jury for this yearâs OGRA. The juries are the following:Â
Based on a report from the International Energy Agency (IEA), Asia is expected to contribute to more than half of the growth in world energy consumption by 2040. This gave the idea for the OGRA to use the theme to help play a role in achieving energy efficiency in housing all over Asia, especially in areas with tropical climates.Â
Energy efficiency in homes and establishments is becoming an urgent necessity in Asia. A well-designed roof that can accommodate hot and humid climates can help homes stay cool and help citizens in saving energy. The 10th-year anniversary of OGRA will also serve as a call to action to advocate for renewable and sustainable energy to contribute to a greener future.Â
The OGRA began in 2013 in Onduline, Indonesia. It began as a way to raise the popularity and reputation amongst Indonesian Architects. Onduline sought to collaborate with various local architects during this initial period. During the conception of the contest, they decided on themes to focus on every contest year. In 2012, OGRA focused on the theme âTropical Green Roof Design.âÂ
2015 saw a larger audience because of its initial success. The yearâs theme was. âFuture Green Roof House Design.âÂ
In 2017, in the wake of using social media to promote brands and events, Onduline utilized their pages to reach a larger audience across Indonesia. That year, the theme used was âThe beachside cottage roof design.âÂ
By 2019, OGRA sought to check the trends that are not just in Indonesia but the rest of Asia when it came to roof designs. Thus, they decided to use the theme âTropical Green Roof System.Â
Then in 2021, due to limitations in travel and other restrictions, OGRA sought digitized competition. The innovative use of online resources led the OGRA to hold all communication and process through the internet. The theme for the year 2021 was âTropical Roof With Ecological Green Energy Â
