Even during the height of the pandemic last 2020, the Solaric sales, engineering, and installation team were continuously working to provide the best services to our residential and commercial clients. We never stopped turning on the sun for a lot of businesses and industrial establishments like hospitals, schools, factories, and manufacturing plants. These businesses decided to make the wise investment of switching to a cleaner and sustainable source of energy.
DOE Department Circular 2020-12-0026
New and existing buildings are now required to use solar photovoltaic (PV) and other renewable energy (RE) technologies with the Department of Energy’s (DOE) issuance of a policy on the adoption of the guidelines on the energy-conserving design of buildings. This initiative aims to promote the energy-conserving design of buildings and their services and boost the demand for energy-efficient materials and technologies. It stipulates that covered buildings shall source, initially, a minimum of 1 percent of their projected annual energy requirements. Building owners can either partially or fully source their energy requirement from the RE power supply system. Aside from satisfying their own energy requirements, they are also allowed to sell the excess RE to the local power utility. These guidelines will be integrated into the Philippine Green Building Code.
Long-Term Investment
Depending on the scale of the solar installation on a business, solar can pay for itself in approximately five years, hence a good return of investment. From year 6 to 25 (with 25 years being the lifespan of a solar power system), the business profits from the system. A typical 100kWp solar power system can have a projected conservative ROI of 5.6 years, which is also equivalent to 2,417 seedlings grown in 10 years or 9.7 tons of coal burned.
With the world now leaning towards sustainable and green companies, solar is definitely a good way to generate positive response from consumers and make a definitive and responsible stand to climate change.
Every effort counts
Climate experts declare year 2030 as our deadline to stop the fast and continuous global warming of planet Earth. Failing to reach this deadline will result in irreversible effects of climate change, which means stronger typhoons, massive floods, longer droughts and uncontrollable wildfires. Small steps taken by these small to large-scale businesses and companies will pave way in the long run towards a clean, green, sustainable future.
