This project saw the rejuvenation of a dreary mechanical workshop in the industrial suburb of Addington. Although utilitarian in nature, the building presented an honest palette of materials, all hidden below a thick layer of white paint. All surfaces were stripped and cleaned, exposing the existing construction of the building. Roller doors that once allowed for vehicle access were replaced with large cedar framed doors, flooding the space with light and external connection. New steel elements are exposed and celebrated within the space. The outcome is a unique and bohemian café environment.
