YC House is an interior design & renovation project done to fit out an existing house. The clients, who are a couple of newlyweds, wanted to create a comfortable compact home to start their family.
The primary focus of the project was the open-plan living, dining, & kitchen area. A combination of Japanese & Scandinavian style was adopted in the interior design, combining light-toned finishing materials with wood.
Another concern of the project was to leave a bit of open outdoor space at the back of the house. Instead of expanding the house's indoor area, the existing back garden was retained, while the size of the openings was increased, bringing more light & air into the living & dining area.
