About Wataru Architects
Our job is to think, share, and give shape. It may seem obvious, but we value these three things in particular. Thinking | It is natural that the assumptions differ from project to project, such as the client's thoughts, the conditions of the site and region, the demands of society, and the future outlook. Therefore, we would like to place importance on facing each of them from scratch. In addition, the Koenji office runs a plant general store that delivers the thoughts of the creators. As a "place" to think about the richness of daily life from various angles, we hold monthly plant consultations and workshops and events inviting guests to provide opportunities to think about life together on a daily basis. Sharing | We value the time we spend communicating with our clients in order to share their images and move forward. I believe that dialogue here is essential, and that good things can only be created through discussion, thinking, worries, and the act of creating together. The more public a building becomes, the more people will be involved, so image sharing becomes more important. It will also be necessary to exchange opinions with the local people who live there, and from the perspective of moving forward together with the entire city. In addition, we focus on communication with the creators. Meetings with many people, such as contractors, on-site craftsmen, and material manufacturers who handle materials, are also very important in order to give shape to them. That's why we think it's important to share the image with everyone. Giving shape to the client's dreams | In order to realize the client's dream, it takes a lot of energy to responsibly give shape to what we have thought and shared until the end. In fact, in order to complete the construction according to the image, we will communicate with all the craftsmen on site and work as a team to create it. The reason why I use the expression "form" is that I do not believe that it is all about creating something with a concrete "shape and form". We believe that it is also important for us to think about the richness of everyday life and to create a community "place" that creates connections between people, and our goal is to work from a broad perspective beyond being a mere design office.
