From 2019 to 2021, the Hudong Regional Medical Center designed by SWISS is located in Pudong, Shanghai, northeast of Xigou Port, with a total construction area of 169,800 square meters, including medical treatment, scientific research, teaching (medical school) and other functions. It is a model of the close connection between scientific research, teaching and clinical medicine.
The two L-shaped volumes in the north and south are combined with the outpatient department and the medical technology section in the central area. Among them, the north building is mainly used for scientific research and teaching, and the south building is used for hospitalization and emergency treatment. Among them, tumor and cardiovascular will become the two pillar disciplines in the future. Each large-scale disciplinary center covers the corresponding clinical, outpatient, medical technology and scientific research from south to north, thus forming a symbiosis of disciplines closely related to clinical and scientific research. The unitary and simple prefabricated façade divided by grids together with the arc-shaped large space boundary form a strong tension between rationality and sensibility.
